2. what version of Photoshop and how long has it been installed?14.2.1 x64
3. do you have other PSD files you can try?Yes and it works.
4. can you see the file extension? (If not and you are using Windows, you need to open Explorer, and goOrganize > Folder and Search Options > View (tab)> and uncheck Hide extensions for known file types.The file extension is .PSD

The thing is I had a power shut down last time I opened the document at work. Since that tragic episode I can't open it anymore.
