I'd go with a Photoshop graphic: a black layer with two rectangles cut out for the eyes and mouth. Import that, selecting Import As>Individual Layers.
Put that on V2 with the ECU on V1. Then two black mattes on V3 and V4. Scale or crop each matte to one of the holes and animate it to move out on cue.
