Installing new Retail version of Photoshop Elements, receive Invalid Serial Number

Hi Everyone,

I purchased a new Box retail version of Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements 12 and before installing I am asked for the Serial Number. I enter it from the box but I get a message that says it is invalid serial number. How can that be if that is what is on the Box.
